IMPORTANT NOTICE:
First and foremost, we want to thank you for your support and anticipated attendance in SCORE at the Shore. Over the past few weeks, we have had to reevaluate ‘where we stand’ for the Winter event in Greater Orlando. As most of you know, we are based in the surrounding NYC area which has been recently hit with storms. Not only has this personally affected us, but this is also the area where approximately 50% of the teams participating in the winter event travel from. After reaching out to many clubs and individual teams, too many seem to echo what one team wrote:
...I regret to inform you that we will have to withdraw our application to the Score at the Shore tourney. One of the many after affects of Hurricane Sandy is that many of our local High Schools are scheduling make-up days on Presidents Day. With the travel requirement this will cause our players to miss too much school…
Not only are many people still feeling the financial strains of the storms, we have now learned that many areas are now using Presidents Day as a ‘make up’ day for school. Over the past few years, we have been seeing this trend, but never to the extent we will see 2013.
With the combination of school attendance and the strain already put on to so many by the storms, we have made the decision to cancel the 2013 SCORE at the Shore Event in Greater Orlando. Though we had not formally accepted your team, we know that you may have been counting on the attendance and hope that this notice gives you time to make alternate plans etc.
If your team had already paid by credit card, it will refunded by credit card within the next few days. If your team paid by check, the check will be returned to you.
We anticipate a huge announcement about our summer SCORE Showcase location etc in the next few weeks. Teams that had applied to our winter event will be offered a discounted rate into the Summer Event if you choose to attend.
Once again, please understand that the decision was not an easy one, but our goal is to bring you tough competition and a variety of teams in a great environment. We simply did not feel confident in moving forward at this time due to the circumstances.
